Nightbirds on Nantucket is very well written. Dido's is a very engaging heroine and we have read most of the books by Joan Aiken that involve Dido. I recommend all of them, but this is one of my favorites. It's a whale of a lot of fun. Though more than a fraction tamer than The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, the humor is as broad as it was in Black Hearts in Battersea and the plot as thick.
